Starting in 2014, all health insurance newly sold to individuals and small businesses must be classified as one of the four levels of coverage:


  • BRONZE:

    Covers 60% of Healthcare Costs

  • SILVER:

    Covers 70% of Healthcare Costs

  • GOLD:

    Covers 80% of Healthcare Costs

  • PLATINUM:

    Covers 90% of Healthcare Costs

Essential Healthcare Benefits

Under obamacare, in 2014, all insurance health plans will be required to provide Essential Healthcare Benefits, which are:

  • Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment
  • Prescription drugs
  • Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices
  • Laboratory services

  • Pediatric services, including dental and vision care
